Biography
Dr. Antonio Pajuelo Gallego holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Malaga and specializes in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, training he completed at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital between 1982 and 1986. Throughout his career, he earned his PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Seville in 1989. Since his inception, he has focused his practice on pain management, having served as Head of the Pain Unit at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital between 2008 and 2018, and currently leading this same unit at Viamed Fátima Hospital since 2019.
With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Pajuelo has established himself as one of the leading experts in pain treatment, actively participating in the implementation of advanced techniques such as neuromodulation and other innovative treatments. He has also served as Head of the Anesthesia Department at several prestigious hospitals, including the Hospital de Poniente in Almería and the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital. His practice focuses primarily on chronic pain management, especially low back pain, and the use of nerve stimulation therapies.
Dr. Pajuelo has authored more than 100 publications in internationally recognized journals, including the worldwide publication of the “Consensus Guide for the Use of Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurostimulation” for the Treatment of Complex Cases of Neuropathic Pain (the only Spanish publication in the group). He has also participated in more than 200 panels at national and international conferences. He has been an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Seville since 2010 and co-director of the Master’s Degree in Pain Management at the same university, a position he held between 2012 and 2018. He has also chaired the Spanish Chapter of the International Neuromodulation Society and remains an active member of various international societies in his field, such as the Spanish Pain Society and the Vagus Nerve Society.
